| Types of courses accepted for CE Credit: Classroom Courses
Self-Study Courses Instructors shall receive the same credit as licensees taking the course taken once for every two-year renewal cycle |
| Final Exam: Final exams are required to be monitored by a disinterested third party A self-study course examination shall not be administered by a person who: (1) Is related to, or is a business associate of, the licensee taking the examination; or (2) Has a financial interest of a licensee taking the examination. General Monitor Affidavit needed. |
| Course Subject Requirements: New Requirement Effective July 1st, 2010 – Three (3) hours of Ethics or Hawaii Law Twenty-One credit hours shall pertain to subjects relating to the line of insurance. Effective January 1, 2012 - an insurance producer authorized to sell life insurance and who is engaged in the sale of annuity products must complete a one-time, four-hour training course on annuity products by January 31, 2012. Those insurance producers who obtain a life insurance line of authority after January 31, 2012, must complete the one-time, four-hour training before they can sell annuities. |
| LONG TERM CARE REQUIREMENT: NAIC LTCI producer training requirement passed. Producer training won’t be required until a Partnership is implemented, and Hawaii has yet to file a State Plan Amendment. |
| Carryover Requirements: Credit hours cannot be carried over to the next compliance period. |
| Course Repetition: Credit will not be given for a course that is repeated within a compliance period. |
| Exemptions: A licensee who has been licensed for less than two years at the time of the licensee's first renewal. Adjusters An individual holding only a limited license. Non-resident agents are exempt if home state has a reciprocal agreement with Hawaii. |
