| LONG TERM CARE REQUIREMENT: Initial 8 hours LTC, compliance 7/1/08. Course must include SD Specific Medicaid Program and Partnership Laws Training content. State requires documentation of training in the state’s Medicaid program and partnership laws. The state has mandated 8 full hours of training. Although SD recognizes a 50-minute per hour training standard for continuing education credit, for the purposes of long-term care partnership credit the state requires 60 minutes hours. In effect, this adds an hour and twenty minutes of training time to the average continuing education classroom course. 4 hours LTC every 2 years following |
| Carryover Requirements: Credit hours cannot be carried over to the next compliance period. |
| Course Repetition: Credit will not be given for course that is repeated within a compliance period. |
| Exemptions: Individuals who have a limited license to sell only credit life, credit health insurance, travel accident and baggage insurance, or bail bonds. A resident attorney who is licensed to practice in South Dakota. Individuals who reside outside the United States but hold a South Dakota license. Newly licensed individuals who have been licensed less than 6 months at the 1st CE compliance date. Individuals who are employed by a trade association and hold a limited license to sell only surety bonds to the association members. Individuals who are retired, at least 65 years old, have been licensed in South Dakota for at least 10 years. Individuals holding limited lines licenses for which an exam is not required.
